The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) is sponsoring a program called HIRE COLORADO. The purpose of this program is to assist unemployed applicants to obtain gainful employment. I graduated in May 2010 from the Georgia Institute of Technology, having attained a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering with High Honors. I would be interested in moving to Colorado to pursue a career working as a biomedical engineer, preferably in the medical device industry.
I have been given a background in core basics of general biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, and mechanical engineering; I have also taken technical electives specializing in electrical engineering with an emphasis on the creation of circuits for biomedical applications. Additionally, several of the courses I completed were designed to maximize my performance as a member of a team enacting problem solving strategies applied to real world problems.
In addition to my standard education in biomedical engineering, I have also developed leadership and organizational skills from other aspects of my college experience. I am a physician with a specialty in endocrinology, licensed only in Italy. I have been in the US since 1998 and I am now in the process of acquiring the US citizenship.
I currently work at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston as a clinical research fellow on an NIH training grant studying pediatric obesity. My responsibilities include recruiting subjects from the Children’s Hospital Boston, consenting study subjects, supervising study visits, following regulatory activities and data management. Prior to this position, I was involved in basic research for numerous years studying both, diabetes and adult stem cells.
At this point of my career I am very interested in entering the drug research field. For this reason I attended a clinical research training course to improve my knowledge in the drug research process and the FDA regulations.
My future career goals are to enter the drug research field with focus in drug safety and pharmacovigilance. Due to funding, my current position at MGH will end in August 2010. I am in the process of relocating to the Boulder, CO area in the fall of 2010.

I currently work as an Analytical Chemist for a biotech company in Boulder. I am looking to move on in my career into process development, method development and/or research and development.
Most of my recent analytical experience is in HPLC, however I test other routine samples such as Bioburden, Endotoxin, SDS-Page, Raw Materials, FTIR, Water and hard chemistry. For HPLC skills, I work with Waters systems on Empower2 software and I am a method trainer for Size Exclusion, Reverse Phase, Peptide Mapping, and Cation Exchange methods. All of my HPLC experience is with protein products in various stages of manufacturing. I am adept at analyzing large quantities of samples on a routine basis.
I have also helped with method development, SOP development, validation of equipment, method qualification and validation, as well as many other process development projects on an as-needed basis. Most of the work I put in on the development side is method qualification testing, authoring SOPs, and spreadsheet validation. I have recently been involved in change control and technical assessments as well.
I am well versed in GMP, GLP and GDP. I have helped write SOPs and developed a few as lead. I can work in large groups or alone with minimal supervision and I like to get projects finished in a timely fashion.

I attend school at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. As a junior I am close to completing my biology major and economics minor. I believe my credentials and diligent work ethic would be a great addition to the Colorado BioScience Association team.
My research experience thus far includes in-class laboratory work as well as extracurricular research alongside a professor of biology at Colgate. I was required to work efficiently and knowledgeably to synthesize meaningful results from experimental data. I am graduating from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering in May 2010. I am moving to Colorado and looking for a full-time career working for a biotechnology or medical device company.
My undergraduate education has provided fruitful engineering, chemical, and biological laboratory experience. I am currently involved in a senior design project working with a professor to get a patent on an endovascular tissue removal device to be used on aortic valve leaflets. Using different programs like ABAQUS for material properties and Autodesk Inventor for mechanical designs, I am able to create different models for analysis. I also have experience with the SEM and TEM from researching CdS nanowires at a summer REU program, and I have experience working in my schools machine shop.
