Chaun will share his leadership journey and why his gut has been instrumental in leading him through many of the professional and personal decisions that have contributed to his successes.
A mover and shaker in Colorado’s healthcare community, Chaun Powell, was recently named to the Top 10 Entrepreneurs to Watch in Healthcare in 2022 by Forbes:
“Chaun Powell has been a lifelong entrepreneur, yet his strength is more on the intrapreneurial side of assisting large healthcare suppliers in their quest to address the latency of adoption challenges across the industry. From introducing new clinical technologies like Sonoma Orthopedics flexible to rigid intramedullary nail for clavicle fractures to the launch of Emerge Medical’s generic orthopedic implant portfolio which was quickly acquired by Cardinal Health, Chaun has developed a passion for challenging the status quo, introducing disruption, and bringing it to the forefront of execution. Fast forward to today and the business side of healthcare has never been in greater need of his skills. Chaun is currently on a mission with Remitra, the epayables division of Premier Inc., to eliminate manual processes in the antiquated AP/AR processes where nearly eighty five percent of healthcare’s B2B payments are paper based and contribute an additional eighteen to twenty-two billion dollars in unnecessary healthcare expense.”
As the Group Vice President (GVP) of the payables platform for Premier, Powell is responsible for setting the strategic direction and realizing the tactical execution of leading the Premier team that is driving transformation in the antiquated space of invoicing and payment in healthcare. Formerly the GVP of Strategic Supplier Engagement, Powell was responsible for all supplier relationships across 4,000 healthcare suppliers and 1,300 contracted suppliers. Powell spent his first three years at Premier leading the Strategic Supplier Engagement team where he was responsible for providing leadership to the supply chain services team working directly with the suppliers to recognize value for members and drive growth for the suppliers. He also led the Disaster Preparedness and Response platform for 4,000 acute facilities and over 200,000 nonacute facilities across the Premier membership nationally. Powell also serves as the Executive Co-sponsor of the Premier Employee Resource Group for Disabled Employees and has participated in Premier’s mentorship program as a mentor since its inception.
Powell received his Bachelor of Science in business management from the Leeds School of Business at University of Colorado and his MBA from the Daniels College of Business at Denver University. In addition, Powell is an adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at Daniels, serves on the Philanthropy Committee for the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation, and spends as much time as he can with his wife and four young children.
