Colorado BioScience Association Appoints Jennifer Jones Paton as New President and Chief Executive Officer

Jones Paton Promoted to Lead Life Science Organization After Broad Search

DENVER – Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) announces the promotion of Jennifer Jones Paton to president and chief executive officer. Jones Paton joined the association in 2016 as vice president, responsible for partnerships, policy and advocacy, and communications.

Jones Paton brings a rich background in policy and economic development to her new role along with a reputation for partnership and achieving results. As vice president of CBSA, she worked collaboratively across industries, economic development groups, policymakers, and non-profit organizations to develop programs that support the health and growth of Colorado’s bioscience sector. She is a Colorado native with deep roots in the business and policy communities.

“After a thorough search, we selected Jennifer for this critical executive position because she brings proven leadership, strong relationships with our stakeholders and partners, and a track record of success in public policy and advocacy for the life science sector. Her public policy background is crucial for CBSA with new leadership at the federal and state level. We know Jennifer will build on our successes and bring new ideas to ignite our sector’s future growth.”

She’s worked closely with the state on the Advanced Industries Accelerator Grant program and led efforts to pass legislation favorable to bioscience. We are confident in her continued leadership as we advance our sector into a new era.”

Jennifer Jones Paton, Colorado BioScience Association President and CEO, says:

Before joining CBSA in 2016, Jones Paton directed Public Affairs for the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. She started with the Chamber in 2012 and quickly moved into leadership roles, becoming Public Affairs Director in 2014. Jones Paton started her career in the international department of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., where she managed programs focused on Europe and Eurasia and planned events with U.S. and international heads of state. She holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees in International Relations and Spanish from Southern Methodist University.

Jones Paton assumes the CBSA leadership role after President and CEO, April Giles, took a new position with the Fitzsimons Innovation Community as vice president of Business Development. Giles continues to collaborate with the association.
