Colorado BioScience Association highlights state’s life-saving medical breakthroughs for lawmakers

Annual event brings health care innovators to share successes with legislators at the Capitol

DENVER – Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) brings life science innovators to meet lawmakers and highlight Colorado’s medical innovation as part of its annual Day at the Capitol. Company leaders creating breakthrough drugs, next-generation medical and diagnostic devices and innovative digital health technologies will advocate for pro-innovation business policies. The event takes place on Wednesday, February 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Old Supreme Court Chambers of the State Capitol Building.

Highlights of the CBSA Day at the Capitol include:

  • Education on the importance of advocacy and engaging with legislators
  • Update on 2018 CBSA policy priorities
  • Introduction to Colorado State Legislators and expectations for the 2018 session
  • Remarks from Lt. Governor Donna Lynne, DrPH

Jennifer Jones, Vice President of CBSA, says:

“Improving our companies’ access to capital remains a top priority for Colorado BioScience Association. Successful programs, such as the Advanced Industries Grant Program and the Advanced Industries Investor Tax Credit provide essential funds to our early-stage companies. We want to work with the legislature to do more to boost growth companies, protect innovation and support an educated workforce.”

Since inception, the state Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) has awarded $52 million in Advanced Industries grants to Colorado bioscience companies. The program makes a significant impact in the state, creating:

  • 67 new bioscience companies
  • 761 direct jobs
  • $521 million additional investment in bioscience
