leading companies and research insti
tutions. To support sustained growth,
Biodesix has secured Medicare coverage
for its tests, developed major research
and commercial partnerships, raised fol
low-on capital, secured key partnerships,
including with Memorial Sloan Kettering
Cancer Center, and built what Cowie
describes as the largest lung-focused sales
organization in diagnostics.
Biodesix leaders build the organization with
great care, earning national recognition for
its workplace culture and leadership.
“The awards and recognition as a top
workplace are really cultural and team
awards,” she says. “The most important
thing in our company is our culture.”
That culture has supported Biodesix
through acquisitions, product launches,
the IPO, the demands of operating as a
public company, and the unwavering focus
on patients.
Hearing from patients and families keeps
the mission-driven team focused, Cowie
“

For a company running centralized labo
ratories, Colorado’s location shapes daily
operations. “Logistics are absolutely
everything,” Cowie says. “Something
unbelievably simple can be a critical
advantage or a massive disadvantage.”
Blood samples shipped from across the
country to Denver International Airport
arrive hours earlier at Biodesix’s Colorado
laboratory compared to its former Seattle
lab. That gives the team more time to run
tests and return results in a given day.
Moving from Boulder to Louisville also
brought the laboratory closer to its ship
ping hub, extending its working day.
“Location and simple logistical choices make
our team more productive,” Cowie says.
For Biodesix, Colorado provides the
talent, connections, and operating advan
tages to compete nationally and grow as
a public company.
